DAVID'S PROJECT CONTINUES ON......
Please help us in our quest to revitalize jazz in New Orleans by donating musical instruments to the children of New Orleans.
David Jaffin’s project was featured in Oprah Magazine along with his family in the October issue 2008 p.78. David’s project idea won The Big Give contest. Over the past one and half years, David has collected and donated over 100 instruments.
On April 30th 2009, the Jaffin family along with Exploring the Arts founded by Tony Bennett and his wife, Susan Benedetto, The Gibson Foundation (Music Rising), Oprah Magazine ($5000 generously donated by Target), and The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation joined together to provide $l00,000 of instruments to KIPP Believe College Prep School in New Orleans. The entire donation was sparked by David’s idea and project.
As part of that donation, David collected and donated 24 instruments valued at $l2,500. In addition we donated $ll,200 which included the money donated by Target (through Oprah Magazine) which was turned into $22,400 worth of new musical instruments for KIPP Believe College Prep School in New Orleans.
In March 20ll, we donated a baritone saxophone to Hancock Middle School in Louisiana. In June 20ll, we donated musical instruments to Gretna Middle School in New Orleans. Also in June 20ll, we donated musical instruments to Crocker Arts and Technology in New Orleans.
